The practice

An electrical contractor that behaves like an engineering firm

We started in 2001 wiring houses in Cork. We still wire houses in Cork — but the work now runs from a single charge point to a fully instrumented commercial building, and the discipline is the same at both ends.

Most electrical firms grow by taking on more work. We grew by taking on more capability: a design desk that produces reflected ceiling plans and lux calculations, an in-house testing rig, and engineers who can hold a conversation with an M&E consultant on equal terms.

Every operative on the books is directly employed, Safe Electric registered and Garda vetted. Nobody subcontracts your job to somebody you have never met, and the person who quotes it is the person who signs the certificate at the end.

What we hold to

Four things that decide how we work

Test, then say

We do not offer an opinion on an installation we have not put a meter on. Every recommendation on this site starts with a measurement.

One price, held

Fixed quotations against a written specification. Variations are agreed and signed before they are built, never invoiced afterwards.

Documented properly

Certificates, test results, schedules and data sheets in one folder at handover. You should not have to chase paperwork for a job you have paid for.

Available when it matters

The emergency line rings a person, not a queue. At three in the morning that is the only feature that counts.

Timeline

Twenty-five years, six turning points

Grey pendant luminaires above a workspace
  1. 2001

Founded in Cork with two vans and a domestic rewiring book.

  2. 2009

First commercial maintenance contract; ISO 9001 certification achieved.

  3. 2016

Smart home division formed after the first full KNX house in Kinsale.

  4. 2020

How it works

Five stages, and paperwork at the end of every one

Nothing here is a surprise. You know the price before we start, the programme before we arrive, and the test results before we ask for the final payment.

  1. 01

    Consultation

    Stage 01

A conversation about what is not working and what you want the building to do. Free, and not a sales visit.

    • Site walkover
    • Indicative budget
    • Written scope
  2. 02

    Inspection

    Stage 02

We test what is already there. You cannot price a rewire honestly without knowing the state of the earthing.

    • Circuit schedule
    • Test results
    • Photographic record
  3. 03

    Quotation

    Stage 03

A fixed price against a written specification, with every assumption stated so nothing arrives as a surprise.

    • Fixed price
    • Specification
    • Programme dates
  4. 04

    Installation

    Stage 04

One team, one supervisor, dust sheets down and a tidy site every evening. You always know who is in your house.

    • Named supervisor
    • Daily updates
    • Protected finishes
  5. 05

    Certification

    Stage 05

Full test, completion certificate lodged with Safe Electric, and a folder with every result and every data sheet.

    • Completion cert
    • Test schedule
    • Handover pack
