Why at home

The economics are not close

A night-rate kilowatt-hour costs about 8 cent. The same energy from a public fast charger costs around 55 cent. For 15,000km a year that difference is roughly €900.

Up to €300 SEAI grant

We complete the application, supply the compliance paperwork and deduct the grant from your invoice.

Charge overnight for less

Night-rate charging on a smart tariff costs roughly a fifth of a public fast charger.

Load management as standard

The charge point sheds current when the house draws hard, so the main fuse never blows.

Solar-matched charging

With PV fitted, chargers can be set to draw only surplus generation.

Installation

Remote survey

Photos of your board and the proposed location, reviewed the same day. No charge, no visit needed.

Supply assessment

We confirm main fuse rating and available capacity, and apply for an upgrade with ESB Networks if you need one.

Fixed quotation

One price covering the unit, the cable run, the protective device and the certification.

Installation day

Most installs take three to four hours. Power is off for about twenty minutes of that.

Commissioning

Charge tested at full current, app paired, certificate issued and grant paperwork lodged.

How long does an EV charger installation take?

Three to four hours for a typical install with the board inside and the charge point within fifteen metres. Longer runs, three-phase supplies or a board upgrade can push it to a full day, and we will tell you which applies before you commit.

Do I need to upgrade my supply?

Usually not. Most Irish homes have a 63A or 80A main fuse, which comfortably supports a 7.4kW charge point with load management. Where capacity is genuinely tight we apply to ESB Networks on your behalf.

Tethered or socketed?

Tethered is more convenient day to day. Socketed is tidier, futureproof if you change cars, and better if the unit is exposed to weather. We will show you both on the survey.

Can I charge from a normal socket instead?

You can, at about 2.3kW, but a standard socket is not designed for six hours at near-continuous load. It is the most common cause of overheated accessories we are called out to.
