01 — House rewiring

A full rewire, done with the house still standing.

We survey first and price from a schedule of circuits, so you know exactly what is being replaced and what is staying. Chasing is cut with dust extraction, cables are routed to keep making-good to a minimum, and you get a written programme showing which days each part of the house loses power.

  • Circuit-by-circuit programme
  • Dust-extracted chasing
  • New consumer unit included
  • Full test and certification
From €95/m² Book this
A row of new miniature circuit breakers in a consumer unit

02 — Fuse board upgrades

The single highest-value upgrade in most Irish homes.

A modern metal-clad consumer unit with an RCBO on every circuit means one fault no longer takes out the whole house — and every circuit gets 30mA shock protection. We add Type 2 surge protection as standard, which matters more every year as heat pumps, inverters and chargers arrive.

  • RCBO per circuit
  • Type 2 surge protection
  • Labelled circuit schedule
  • Same-day completion

03 — Lighting design

Four layers of light, not a grid of downlights.

Design starts with a reflected ceiling plan and real lux calculations for how each room is used. Ambient, task, accent and decorative layers go on separate dimmed circuits, so a single room can be four different rooms across a day.

  • Reflected ceiling plans
  • Lux calculations
  • Separately dimmed layers
  • Keypad scene control

04 — Inspection & reporting

A periodic inspection report you can hand to a solicitor.

Every circuit tested with calibrated instruments — insulation resistance, earth fault loop impedance, RCD operation, polarity and continuity — written up with each observation classified C1, C2 or C3 so you know what is dangerous and what is merely improvable.

  • Every circuit tested
  • C1 / C2 / C3 classification
  • Photographic evidence
  • Issued within 48 hours

05 — Testing & certification

Paperwork that arrives without being chased.

Completion certificates are lodged with Safe Electric and issued to you in the same week the work finishes, together with the full test schedule and the data sheets for everything installed. If you sell the house in ten years, it is all one PDF.

  • Lodged with Safe Electric
  • Full test schedule
  • Product data sheets
  • Digital handover pack

Safety check

How safe is your installation?

Seven questions, about ninety seconds. You get a score and a short, honest list of what we would look at first — not a sales pitch dressed up as a survey.

  • No email required
  • Nothing is stored
  • Based on I.S. 10101 guidance
1 / 7
How old is the property?

Wiring standards changed substantially in 1981 and again in 2008.

Before & after

What a proper job actually changes

Three of our own before-and-afters. Drag each line.

After: A row of new miniature circuit breakers in a consumer unit
Before: An old grey fuse box with a mechanical main switch Original fuse box
Modern consumer unit

Consumer unit

Rewireable fuses and no residual current protection, replaced with a metal-clad board carrying an RCBO on every circuit and Type 2 surge protection.

After: An open-plan living and kitchen space lit in layers after dark
Before: Two chairs and a table in a room with no working lighting Single pendant
Layered scheme

Lighting scheme

One ceiling rose replaced with four separately dimmed layers — ambient, task, accent and decorative — on a keypad with five scenes.

After: A newly wired distribution board with labelled circuits
Before: Tangled legacy cabling behind a wall panel Legacy cabling
New installation

Wiring

Rubber-insulated conductors and unenclosed joints removed entirely, replaced with new PVC circuits terminated in accessible, labelled enclosures.

How it works

Five stages, and paperwork at the end of every one

Nothing here is a surprise. You know the price before we start, the programme before we arrive, and the test results before we ask for the final payment.

  1. 01

    Consultation

    Stage 01

A conversation about what is not working and what you want the building to do. Free, and not a sales visit.

    • Site walkover
    • Indicative budget
    • Written scope
  2. 02

    Inspection

    Stage 02

We test what is already there. You cannot price a rewire honestly without knowing the state of the earthing.

    • Circuit schedule
    • Test results
    • Photographic record
  3. 03

    Quotation

    Stage 03

A fixed price against a written specification, with every assumption stated so nothing arrives as a surprise.

    • Fixed price
    • Specification
    • Programme dates
  4. 04

    Installation

    Stage 04

One team, one supervisor, dust sheets down and a tidy site every evening. You always know who is in your house.

    • Named supervisor
    • Daily updates
    • Protected finishes
  5. 05

    Certification

    Stage 05

Full test, completion certificate lodged with Safe Electric, and a folder with every result and every data sheet.

    • Completion cert
    • Test schedule
    • Handover pack
